Yesterday marked the one week date for our vacation, only ten days left now.......sigh. We have seen a lot of new places and met a lot of new people. For some reason it seems like the policia are out patrolling (driving around with their flashing lights on) more that I have ever seen. Yesterday as my son and I were driving back to the condo from downtown there were a bunch of policia on the side of the road by the pier for the car ferry and one was hitch hiking as we drove by. I figured what the heck and stopped, two jumped on the back of our cart and we had a great conversation about Isla Mujeres, Cancun, tourists, crime, and the boat full of Cubans that washed ashore. I dropped them of at the police station (never really knew where it was but they gave me directions) and we were off on our own again.
After my run in with the police we figured that since it was not raining we had better get to the beach. We loaded up the whole family and headed to the Captain Dulche Beach Club and Museum. If you haven't been here yet I highly recommend it. They have a beautiful beach, great food, great drinks, and wonderful staff. It is the perfect place to hide on a windy day if you don't feel like being sandblasted on the North end of the island. Also they have the most amazing museum with models of all kinds of ships from sailing schooners to steamships, warships and my favorite............the Calypso! I was a huge Cousteau fan when I was a kid and love it when I catch old episodes on TV to this day.
Okay enough of my blathering, you probably just want to see the pics anyway...........
