Jan 24, 2012 - Day 4

Tuesday morning we wake up to realize that it is a beautiful, bright sunny day. Here is a picture of the gorgeous view between the villa buildings at our hotel.

Since everyone really enjoyed their breakfast yesterday, we are again headed to Chicago Deli and Pancake House. Butch and Joe both order the Sunnyside up eggs with a side of sausage and Kay gets her favorite Mexican scrambled eggs. I am the adventurous one and am always looking to try new things, but I just love the American sausage and cheese omelet here and must have it again today. They add just the right amount of cheese to make it delicious! I thought I might be taller than this ice cream cone, I guess Joe was right.

We head back to the hotel to relax for a while on our deck and just hang out enjoying the sunshine. After a while, Joe and I head out on the cart exploring again. While driving around La Gloria, we get caught off guard to find a horse in someone’s yard; it seems each year we discover a different animal while out exploring the island. Later in the day we stop at the Women’s Bead Coop and see the same horse now hitched to a tree across the street… he really gets around! Once inside the coop, I am able to find several fabulous bracelets for myself and as gifts to bring home. Since we are both starting to get a little hungry for lunch (and warm to boot), we start back towards the hotel.

Once there, we find that Butch and Kay are also hungry and we all drive in to get some fish and chips from Bobo’s. Right now Bobo’s seating area is very limited, we cannot wait until the additional dining room is built and we can enjoy our lunch there instead of taking it to go. We get 2 orders to go and make our way to the stone wall on the beach near Brisa’s Grill to eat in the shade & feed a couple fries to the seagulls. The fish is very fresh with a nice crispy batter and their tartar sauce really completes the meal… it is just as tasty as we remembered from last year.

We head back to the hotel where Butch and Kay decide to walk down and enjoy the beach, while Joe and I go snorkeling in the King’s pool. Due to the wind/waves the red flags are out and the entrance to the Kings pool is locked. This proves to be a temporary setback as Joe shows me how to carefully climb around the gate so we can check out the actual conditions. Turns out it is just fine for swimming and we spend quite a while checking out the fish and other aquatic life…..very relaxing!

Before heading out for the evening, I take a shot of the sunset, which isn’t as colorful as I would have thought considering the sunshine a little earlier in the day.

We drive into Brisa Mexicana for drinks and start the decision making process for dinner. Turns out we are all feeling incredibly hungry for the tempura style party shrimp at Comono... one of our all-time favorite meals. The previous owners of Comono had even nicknamed us the party shrimp people since at least three of us orders it each time we are there. We all order the shrimp and are pleased to discover that not much has changed with the meal since the new ownership took over. The meal used to come with salad, which Kay and I always enjoyed, but Butch and Joe were okay without it! Joe claims that salad is not food, that’s what food eats! The shrimp are still wonderful as ever…11 good sized shrimp battered lightly & cooked to perfection. With our bellies full and everyone tired from the warm day, we decide to make it an early night.
